The CNC Precision Lathe Type TNE s modular machine
concept was realized due to the geometrical complexity, progressing miniaturization, and resulting demands for complete machining with increased accuracy of workpieces. The TNE machines cover the complete production range with 6 variations. The simplest model consists of a main spindle and upper cross slide with a 12 position turret. The arrangement
of an opposed secondary spindle enables the complete machining of workpieces in one set-up by using the main turret for both front and back side machining.
By installing an opposed spindle on its own cross slide with its own turret, the machine becomes a turning center with up to 8 axes, utilizing the vertically traversing Y axis on both turrets with live tools. Each
spindle has a C axis for the machining of faces and periphery surfaces simultaneously. The synchronization of the spindles lets the machine transfer components while both spindles are rotating. A variety of loading
systems are available to provide the maximum degree of automation. Workpiece tolerances 1T5 in series are possible. Roundness accuracy s of < 1 μm, peak-to-valley roughness of Ra to Ra on steel components, and rotational accuracy of parts transferred from spindle to spindle of < mm are the guarantees of highest precísion.
The CNC-control system with a 32-bit microprocessor and multi-channel structure enable simultaneous machining of the front side and back side of components using two turrets and two spindles. Profiled and odd shaped parts can be transferred from spindle to spindle via synchronization instructions in the program. A family of parts can be programmed with para-
meters to automatically select and coordinate workpiece dimensions by a corresponding reference number. Many different possibilities for automatic loading are available, such as a palletized loading system, conveyor belts, loading channels in conjunction with swivelled loaders. This allows for complete automation of odd workpieces. Mounting of two parallel spindles
