Pneumatic and Hydraulic Faults Troubleshooting Guide

Pneumatic Faults

Work Energy Abnormal

Check Air Pressure: Ensure that the air pressure is between 5 to 6 atm (70 - 85 psi).

Inspect Electro-Pneumatic Valves: Verify the functioning of electro-pneumatic valves for blocked passageways or burnt-out solenoids.

Hydraulic Faults

Loss of Pressure in Circuit

Adjust Relief Valve: Raise and lower the relief valve setting, then observe the effect on the pressure gauge.

Check Pilot Orifice: Ensure that the pilot orifice of the relief valve is not obstructed.

Inspect Piping for Leaks: Check the submerged piping for leaks and rectify if necessary.

Check Dump Valve: For each cylinder, check the dump valve for a jammed piston. Press the foot pedal and sense with your hand at outlet R whether oil is expelled via this outlet. Dismantle the valve and ensure the piston slides freely. Replace the spring if broken.

Examine Main Piston Seals: Check the main piston seals for damage.

Cycle Does Not Take Place or Is Abnormal

Remove Valve Block Cover: Take off the cover from the valve block.

Check Pressure Switch: Ensure that the pressure switch provides an impulse after the build-up of pressure. If necessary, adjust the throttle. The duration of the pressure peak can be adjusted by the timing relay situated in the electrical control box.

Inspect Valve Spool Movement: Remove screw and insert a rod approximately 3 mm in diameter into the tapping. Operate the foot pedal and feel whether the valve spool moves easily (approx. 15 mm). In normal conditions, the spool should be centered.

Check Centering Springs: Verify the centering springs.

Beam Descends Too Rapidly When Motor Is Off

Check Valve Spool Centering: Ensure that the valve spool is centered.

Inspect Reservoir and Piping: Partially empty the reservoir until the piping is visible. Raise the beam to the top position and switch off the motor. Check piping and return cylinders for leakage.

Note: A descent speed of 10 mm/min is permissible.

Malfunctioning of the Relief Valve

Check Pilot Orifice: Ensure that the pilot orifice is not obstructed.

Adjust Pressure Setting: Raise the pressure setting of the valve to avoid chatter and subsequent damage to the electrical contacts.
