Cazeneuve HB Lathe

CAZENEUVE

They have specíalízed, since 1912, ín the manufacture of inedíum-size centre lathes and are equípped for making lathes of the híghest possible quality and performance. They have supplied tens of thousands of such machines, and theír output ís steadily íncreasing. Their latest model, HB , ís the outcome of forty  years of invaluable practical experíence, and thousands of these machínes have already been supplíed.
The HB now enjoys a world-wíde reputatíon and holds a leading posítíon ín its class. Several countries І are makíng ít under lícence.
The HB ís made in three types, wíth swíngs over the bed of :
and known as the
The maín features of these machínes are descríbed below :
1 he H B 500 and H B 575 are fıtted with a 12-hp. and the H B 725 wíth a 22-or 25 hp motor. The motors are designed to withstand temporary overloads. On request, of course, less powerful motors can be fıtted see specífıcation .
The range of speeds goes up to 3 200 rpm on the HB 500, 2 500 rpm oп the
H B 575, and 2000 rpm oп the H B 725. Lower ranges can be provided see
specifıcation .
ACCURACY
Exceptíonal accuracy is ensured by unique method of mounting the
spindle. The original design of the turret with location guaranteed to less than 3 microns . The attention paid to the width and fıtting of the slides and ways in common with the high quality of manufacture gives our HB lathes exceptional precision.

A large-diameter dial and a micrometer device acting on the cross-slide screw permit direct reading in .0002. For longitudinal measurements, an easily readable dial graduated in 1/16 is provided.

The HB lathe is extremely easy to handle, as its controls are so arranged that the operator does not need to change position. Other features ensure a wider range of applications, better performance, and lasting accuracy.
LUBRICATION
Revolving shafts and aLL other moving parts are spiash-Iubricated by constantly clean oiL delivered under pressure. For points that cannot be lubricated in this manner slide and saddle guides, four-way turret , a built-in manual pump is
províded, the oiL delivered by thís expelling aLL foreign matter. The cross-slide screw runs ín an oiL bath. A11 this ensures lastíng accuracy and performance.
The new reaction-type apron allows disengagement of the longitudinal and cross
movements by stops, actuation of the control lever, or manual stoppage of the
handwheel concerned. With this apron, when one of the movements is disengaged,
it is possible to engage the other. A special device is provided for límíting the
cutting load on tools, especially drills, to a predetermined value.
The arrangements described effect a considerable reduction in idle times.
Other features.
Here are some more features that make the HB lathe sturdier and easier to operate.
The Cazeneuve standard  provides for accurate and rigid mounting of chucks and faceplates, at the same tíme ensuring safety in both directions of spíndle rotation. in comparison with other types, the Cazeneuve
taper spindle nose has less overhang and reduces the load on bearings.
we are obtainable with a 127-tooth gear permanently mounted in the quadrant, and changeover from metric to Whítworth pitches
ís extremely rapíd.

The SPiNDLE DRiVE-BELTS are readily accessible and can be changed
without dísmantling the spindle.
Tћe CItOSS-SLIDE is made of steel.
The CROSS-SLiuE clamρs on the Model HB 725 gives increased rigidity
when taking the heaviest cuts.
The CHAli FOVEIi from longitudinal to taper-turning is very rapid.
TЬe sWITCHGEafl is mounted on a swivelling chassis and can easily be
examined.
HARDENED BED. On request, HB lathes of standard distances between centres can be suppIied with a hardened bed. We offer both unhardened and hardened beds, each type having its own particular advantages.
The HB lathe can be equipped with a uníversal hydraulic copying attachment, as described later.

The following accessories are supplied with the machines:
Stationary steady, travellíng steady, high-precision four-way turret, screw
cutting Pitch indicator, longitudinal stop, two live centres, electric pump, swarf trough, piping, set of service spanners.
On request, the following accessories can be supplied:
Universal chuck, combination chuck, four-jaw independent chuck with

ITN[VER AL COPYING TTACIIMENT
A11 HB lathes can be equipped with a universal hydraulic attachment for longítudinal and lateral copying.
Reproduction ís obtained from master components or sheetmetal tempiotes. The moster-component supports for longitudinal reproduction incorporote micrometer adjustment in both directions.
Because of its great rigidity, the copying attachment is able to utilize the fu11
power of the lathe motor.
Pressure of the contact point on the master component is 3 to 13 ozs, and
components can be produced to an accuracy of about .0008.
Copying attachments for the HB 575 and HB 725 can be fıtted with a high-
precision square turret or specioI tool holders.
Lubrication of the heavy type slideways ís effected automatically during
opercition.
The slide has double ways permitting faceplote work with large overhang.
A special built-in device aIlows for a fınishing cut immediately after roughing, no dismantling or adjustment being necessary.
in many cases, the combined use of the copying attachment and the front turret makes ìt possible to obtain a higher output on our lathe than on a turret lathe.
On request, a revolving-template device can be supplíed.

UNIVERSAL

HB lathes can be equipped with a universal hydraulic attachment for longítudínal and lateral copying.
Reproduction is obtained from master components or sheetmetal templates. The master-component supports for longitudínal reproduction incorporate micrometer
adjustment in both directions.
Because of its great rigidity, the copying attachment ís able to utilíze the full
power of the lathe motor.
Pressure of the contact point on the master component is 3 to 13 ozs, and
components can be produced to an accuracy of about .0008.
Copying attachments for the HB 575 and HB 725 can be fıtted with a high-
precision square turret or special tool holders.
Lubrication of the heavy type slideways is effected automatically during
operation.
The slíde has double ways permitting faceplate work with large overhang.
A special built-in device allows for a fınishing cut ímmediately after roughing, no dismantling or adjustment being necessary.
In many cases, the combined use of the copying attachment and the front turret makes ít possible to obtain a higher output on our lathe than on a turret lathe.

On request, a revolvíng-template device can be supplied.

SPECIFICATION OF MODELS

The HB 725 Lathe Specifications

The HB 725 lathe is built in two types: with a mechanical friction clutch and without. The second type is fitted with direct electrical start. The figures shown in the first column refer to the first type and the other figures to the second.

These figures relate only to lathes with a distance between centers of up to 1000 mm. On lathes with a distance between centers of more than 1000 mm, the longitudinal feeds are equal to 1/5 of the pitches.

For the HB 500 and HB 575 only, with straight bed for the HB 750 only.

For the HB 725 only.

Lathes over 1500 mm between centers are delivered with a maximum speed of 2000 RPM.

Lathes with 2000 mm between centers have a maximum speed of 1600 RPM.

Lathes with 3000 mm between centers or more are delivered with a maximum speed of 1600 RPM for models HB 500 and HB 575 and 1250 RPM for model HB 725.
