What is a CNC boring machine?
A CNC boring machine is a horizontally oriented machine. With this tool, you can drill holes in a horizontal direction. A boring machine can be divided into different types. For example, you have a table type boring mill, a floor type boring mill (that's a boring machine with a movable column) and a CNC boring machine. We also sell various rotary tables for boring machines.
Axes that are moved over a greater distance is something that's typical of a floor type boring mill. This type of boring machine also has a larger capacity than the table boring machine. It makes this machine ideal for when you want to make large workpieces in single pieces.

What can you do with a used CNC boring machine?
With a CNC boring machine, you can do boring. This is a machining technique in which you remove chips from the workpiece by rotating the tool. Boring can be done in two different ways: by longitudinal boring and by flat boring.
With longitudinal boring, the tool continuously makes the same circular movement. This way a hole gets deeper and deeper, while the diameter remains the same. With flat boring, the tool makes an increasingly larger rotational movement, which makes the hole bigger and bigger.
A CNC boring machine is used for machining holes and flat surfaces on larger workpieces. If you want complex and clean machining, such a CNC boring machine is ideal. You can use it to create clean, round hole and cylinder shapes. And because the boring machine is computer-controlled, you can machine very accurate, down to the millimeter!
How does a second-hand CNC boring machine work?
With a CNC boring machine, the workpiece is fixed, while the tool rotates. This tool can be a drill, but also a milling cutter or chisel, for example. While the workpiece is fixed, the tool removes the material from the workpiece little by little and with extreme precision. As we mentioned earlier, this can be done in depth (longitudinal boring) or in width (flat boring).
