Its most important characteristics are:

Simple use and high machining precision due to accurate construction and high-quality components. The new design of the MAGMA model enables the operator to easily perform mechanical setups. This version is equipped with a pneumatic electrode insertion and is available with both a rotating axis and an electrode magazine with eight stations, as well as pneumatic control. This increases the range of applications for the user.

High washing capacity with suction washing, coordinate washing, and continuous washing system. Outstanding performance with high machining efficiency and low electrode wear. The electrode carrier plate with T-slots facilitates the mounting of large electrodes.

User-friendly computer programming. The MULTITASKING system allows all CNC functions to be programmable while the machine is in operation. Automatic programming through WC RKCALC allows the operator to automatically generate any desired machining program.

The MAGMA electroerosion machine is built to simplify the user's tasks during the mechanical set-up. The mechanical structure of the machine has been designed and constructed with a focus on the necessary sturdiness for the erosive process, providing very high precision and stability without any thermal deformation. The high precision ball screws allow movements that require no clearance. The table roller guides grant perfectly linear movement that ensures long life without wear and tear.

The large work-table and the large tank with double doors allow easy access to the table and workpiece. A modular filtration system automatically cleans the dielectric fluid, ensuring easy and economical service.

The machine is controlled by a powerful control unit in combination with an industrial computer. Additionally, the software provides more possibilities for the user. The software supports dialogue programming, graphical user interface, real-time graphics simulation, and interactive modification of erosive parameters.

Other features include unlimited part origins, multitasking, program storage, RS 232 interface for peripheral devices, and outstanding structural features that ensure long-term absolute stiffness, high precision, and thermal stability.

With pre-set, high-precision ball screw spindles, the machine ensures backlash-free movements. The machine offers a high level of versatility and can be used for a wide variety of tasks, ensuring long-lasting durability due to its excellent construction and design.

KEYPAD
The MAGMA system is also provided with an ínteractive keypad.
The keypad enables all manual data entry functions, program start-up and axís
CONTROL UNITAND PC movement in continuous and jog modes.
A large control unit and an industrial-type TASTATUR personal computer are the ideal solution to

The synergy of these two units allows the operator to easily control the machine and perform functions such as:

Multiprogramming

Multitasking

Program storage with descriptive list

Manual axis movement via keyboard functions, including program start and stop

Electrode Holder Magazine
The Electrode Holder Magazine increases the machine’s flexibility in order to carry out complicated machining tasks. The rotary magazine, located on the head, allows for easy switching between eight different electrode positions. This ensures that the machine’s dimensions remain compact while enabling efficient electrode changes. The rotary axis runs on high-precision ball bearings and can be used in various ways:

As a positioning axis to swivel the electrode in the XY plane

As a continuous rotary axis with programmable rotation speeds from 0 to 50 RPM

As a continuous erosive axis for machining spirals, slots, and threads, in combination with interpolating linear axes

Filter Unit
The filters are located on the left side of the machine. This system uses cartridge filters that ensure high performance, efficiency, and easy maintenance. The three filter cartridges provide thorough filtration, long life, and low replacement costs. The large filter surface area guarantees clean filtration for a long duration.

Generator
The generator is integrated into the machine, which reduces its overall dimensions. It is built with state-of-the-art electronic technologies and has a modular European structure. The modularity of the generator, along with its self-diagnostic capability, allows for quick and precise assistance when needed.
The standard generator power is 40 Amps, but 60 or 80 Amp versions are available. The generator operates according to programmable digital time-bases with intervals as short as one microsecond, from 1 to 999. Current settings can also be adjusted on a unit scale from 1 to 40 or 80. Additionally, it features a short-circuit protection system and an exclusive spark control system for energy regeneration, improving spark efficiency and offering several working voltages.

WORKCALC automatic programming system

Three Different Operating Modes
In the Numerical Control Erosion System, the operator is asked to input the following data:

Erosion parameters: power, arc life, etc., according to the material, the electrode, and the part

The electrode surface and the desired finishing degree

Erosion coordinates determination on the workpiece through linear, orbital, and other motion types

Trajectories to cover, including linear movements, various paths, orbitations, etc.

The MAGMA system allows for operation in three different modes:

WORKCALC
The WORKCALC software enables the automatic entry of machining parameters and work phase cycles.
The computer automatically selects ideal parameters from databases in the memory, and
stores them in the machining program.
The WORKCALC entry sequence is as follows:
The main page enables the selection of various electrode/workpiece combinations wíth the Ø choíce of the various technologies available for stopped and through cuts Fig. 1
The shape of the electrode can then be defined by selecting the relative geometrical pattern:
parallelepiped, cylínder, cone or frustum of cone, pyramid or frustum of pyramid, etc.
Electrode shape defınitíons are completed by entering data for specific solid dimensíons or different sections up to fıve . G1
All machíning data base tables can also be displayed, íncluding CORMAC and USER data bases user-defined databases .
The required machiníng method can now be selected: roughing or finishing or a roughíng and finíshing cycle to be carried out using the same electrode
WORKCALC now displays machiníng parameters whích are optimised wíth respect to
machíning tíme and electrode wear and calculated automatícally on the basis of various
heights, differences in electrode sections, and required roughness Fig
These data can be confırmed or modified; modífíed data can be stored ín the user data base.
Workcalc then compiles the entire machining program automatícally and the operator simply has to start the process.

50 Programming (ISO Programming)

The trajectory programming in the MAGMA system is simplified by using the elementary language of the ISO Programming System. Blanking operations can be achieved by compiling a series of blocks containing movement coordinates and macro instructions related to movement and the generator's start-up/shutdown.

The MAGMA system automatically controls the back-slide travel required for the cleaning process.
