CONSTRUCTION

This mounting offers the advantage of achieving a nearly immediate stop of the spindle without engaging the headstock gearing.

Strongly built and reinforced, the headstock is designed to withstand all strains, even those from the heaviest machining operations. The spindle end is forged into a flange shape according to the type USAS spindle noses.

The hollow spindle, made from special chrome-nickel steel, is mounted on high-precision TIMKEN taper bearings. The bed of the DEMOOR lathe is unusually wide and reinforced with a double-wall system, providing absolute resistance to all strains of flexion and torsion. The bedways are hardened and ground.

On special request, inserted steel ways are available. The front way features a wide V with unequal sizes, which increases the area that bears the high pressure produced by the working tool.

All shafts run on taper roller bearings, and all gears in the headstock are made of high-tensile, specially treated nickel-chromium steel. The faces of the gears are ground, and the sliding gears move on splined shafts, which are ground all over. A pump inside the headstock ensures the lubrication of the bearings, gears, and clutches. An external magnetic oil filter is provided on the inlet pipe.

Two brakes operate simultaneously and automatically when the friction clutch is disengaged. The first brake is hydraulic with multiple discs, while the second consists of a disc mounted around the spindle that acts directly on it.

All machines are equipped with a complete coolant system.
