DEMOOR TYPE 922 823

The DEMOOR lathes, models 922 and 823 have been designed to increase your productivity, to allow tight machining tolerances, to reduce investment and maintenance costs. Of recognized quality and of long durability, they will keep a high value for long years.

The Bed

The bed of high-quality cast iron presents an excellent ratio width over height. Very strong cross ribs ensure a high rigidity as well as easy chip removal. The bedways of large dimension, with a wide V-shaped front way, are hardened and ground. On request: gap in bed.

The Headstock

The spindle of special grade steel, heat-treated, is mounted on three roller bearings, out of which two are TIMKEN taper bearings. As standard, spindle nose D1N 55022-8 Camlock, on request Camlock. A double mechanical friction clutch with multiple discs gives two speed ranges in geometric progression. A lever allows to reverse the spindle rotation. A multiple disc hydraulic brake automatically stops the spindle when the friction clutch is disengaged. A special dial allows a rapid selection of spindle speeds as well as a direct reading of the cutting speed. All shafts are mounted on ball or roller bearings. The gears in chrom-nickel steel are hardened and ground. The sliding gears move on splined ground shafts. Complete lubrication system with pump and magnetic filter.

Gear Box

The DEMOOR gear box offers extremely large possibilities of the feed and pitch, which are unequalled by any comparable machine. This totally enclosed gear box with cams and gears sliding on shafts mounted on taper roller bearings offers an exceptional selection of pitches without any pick-off wheels, i.e., a total including coarse pitches 1:4 and 1:16, or 904 pitches out of which:

The feed selection gives 200 different rates from 0.04 mm to 4 mm in longitudinal direction and from 0.02 mm to 2 mm in transversal direction. The feed mechanism is protected by automatic disengagement on stops. On standard, DEMOOR lathes offer five longitudinal stops out of which two are micrometric, and five micrometric transversal stops. On the apron, a very practical single lever controls simultaneously the three movements: engages longitudinal or cross feed and closes the leadscrew nut for threading. It is therefore impossible to engage two different movements. Two small levers on the apron allow to double the selected feed range and to reverse the feed.

Electrical and Mechanical Safety Features

The machines are protected both mechanically and electrically against overloads. Standard equipment includes a single lever that reverses the feed direction or divides the engaged feed value by 2.
