Bihler formìng, welding and assembly technolgoy

Otto Bihler founded Bihler of America Inc. in 1956, establishing its headquarters in North Branch, and began manufacturing spring-building machinery. In 1958, Otto Bihler Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG was formed, specializing in forming, welding, assembly technology, and CAD/CAM software for automatic punching, control systems, monitoring, housing structures for operator safety, noise suppression, production strategies, and advanced tooling solutions.

Throughout its history, Bihler has introduced significant innovations, including the first automatic radial bending machine in 1957 at the Hanover Fair and the UFA1 automatic spring winder in 1983. In 1987, Bihler CAD/CAM Systeme GmbH & Co. KG was established, focusing on developing specialized software for punching, bending, blanking, embossing, and follow-up composite tools.

The company continually expands its product range to meet customer demands, emphasizing high-speed automatic punching and bending machines like the BM 30E, GRM 80E, MACH 1/7, MCS 05, and the CNC 300 MH with screen-display process control.

The products developed by Bihler have garnered significant international interest since the 7th Milan exhibition, starting with their first automatic punching and bending machines like the RM 35 and GRM 50 over 40 years ago. Today, the advanced BZ Processing Centre and MC Multicenter machines exemplify Bihler's innovation in manufacturing systems, integrating new technologies to enhance production efficiency across welding, electronic equipment, and assembly.

Throughout its history, Bihler has consistently expanded and developed, culminating in the construction of its factory in Füssen amidst various expansion projects in 1976. With a workforce growing to approximately 500 employees, Bihler remains committed to integrating cutting-edge technologies and methods into its operations. Their patented technologies in automatic punching and bending machines underscore their leadership in machine and tool design, toolmaking, and assembly.

Bihler operates a global sales and service network through agencies and subsidiaries worldwide, ensuring proximity to customers and providing comprehensive support. The company achieved DIN EN ISO 9001 certification in 1997, reflecting its commitment to quality and innovation. As a market leader, Bihler embraces the challenges and responsibilities inherent in its role, aiming to meet economic, sociopolitical, and social expectations while advancing in the global market.

Bihler's commitment to innovation in the CAD/CAM market led to the establishment of Bihler CAD/CAM Systeme GmbH & Co. KG. This venture focuses on developing specialized software for punching, bending, blanking, embossing, and follow-up composite tools. It provides highly efficient resources from design to production stages for users of presses and automatic machines.

When combined with Bihler libraries, the software swiftly generates machine-specific bending schemes and blanking tools. Optimized cam timing diagrams simulate motion sequences for complete tooling construction. This process defines the geometry of cams and NC data for their production.

Approximately 200 design engineers and toolmakers leverage extensive application knowledge to develop and manufacture solutions for customers. These efforts, guided by a customer-centric culture, aim to meet customer needs effectively.

Standardized tooling components across current Bihler machines reduce costs and streamline tool manufacturing timelines.

Automation and innovation
The production of diverse and complex components requires the continuous development of new system modules. These increase the scope of application of our automatic machines and extend the boundaries of the technically possible ever wider. Converting these ideas into practice is the work of our development specialists in cooperation with our domestic
and foreign partners, building on many years of experience and being constantly willing to incorporate innovative techniques into manufacturing concepts.
Our machines should actually be called automatic punching, bending, assembly, welding, laser welding, tapping, screw insertion, spring winding, magazine loading, sorting and measuring machines etc. Because these and other processing operations may all be integrated into fully automated operating sequences. in addition, the linking and combining of radial and linear automatic machines with assembly systems to form complete processing lines for all types of production offer crucial advantages.
However it is a known fact that the whole may function properly only if every single part of it is perfect. That is why all of the important modules are designed and produced in-house.
Manufactured in accordance with a comprehensive qualíty management system which is integrated into the entire manufacturing process and applied throughout the company.
