Option: Turning/Milling Spindle

For special machining tasks, it may be necessary to combine pure milling operations with a turning function. To address this need, a newly developed spindle is available. This spindle features a spindle shaft that can be additionally clamped, allowing, for example, a turning tool with an HSK-A 100 interface to skim a cylindrical rotating workpiece. With this combined turning-milling function, machining can, in certain cases, be realized more cost- and time-effectively.

Design
For A-axis positioning, an absolute value measuring system is used. Its hollow shaft is directly connected to the centering of the C-/A-axis rotor.

The graduated disk is rigidly affixed to the hollow shaft, while the scanning unit rides on the shaft on ball bearings and is connected to the housing via a coupling on the stator side.

The safe docking and locking of the head/spindle

The safe docking and locking of the head/spindle is enabled by the hydromechanical CyTrac clamping systems with preload. These systems are integrated into the C-axis swivel housing and couple the corresponding bolts of the head A-axis during the feed process.

In the released position, the bolts are disengaged, while in the clamped position, the clamping jaws grip the bolts, lock them securely, and hold them under preload.

For the transmission of liquid and gaseous media, such as coolant, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems, quick coupling systems are used. These systems are leakage-free, very compact, and capable of handling high volumetric flow rates. Thanks to the integrated offset and angle compensation, production tolerances and inaccuracies during joining can be effectively countervailed.
