THE PRODUCT LINE
The range of Ergotest testers effects Rockwell hardness testing in conformity with ISO standards. On plastic materials the Rockwell hardness testing is according to standard ASTM 0785. Additionally, Brinell and Vickers indentations can be performed, to be measured by means of a separate optical device, in conformity with the appropriate ISO standards. The rugged cast-steel stand is designed for use on large specimens (up to 295 mm in height), ensuring a high level of stability and repeatability during the test cycle and of reliability over time. There are four main versions in the Ergotest range:

- Automatic hardness testers with digital readout: D/G125RS - D1G125 R
- Automatic hardness testers with analogue readout: COMP 25 A RS - COMP 25 R1A
- Manual hardness testers with analogue readout: COMP 25 RS - COMP 25 S- COMP 25 R- COMP 25 P
- Manual hardness testers with analogue or digital readout: EXPORT R- EXPORT P- EXPORT S- UNIVERSAL

A wide range of accessories are available for use with these instruments, increasing their flexibility of application for industrial and laboratory use in the field of Rockwell hardness testing. All the instruments in the Ergotest line, indenters, and calibration test blocks can be certified according to SIT standards. Since 1987 LTF center has been approved by SIT (Italian Calibration Service) as a Secondary Calibration Centre for hardness and microhardness testing. LTF certificates are valid technically and scientifically within Italy. They are also recognized by the National Calibration Services which adhere to EAL, European Cooperation for the Accreditation of Laboratories.

Top of the Ergotest range are D1G1 models, the most advanced among Galileo hardness testers of LTF production. The operative features of the new version have been greatly improved so as to reach even higher performances. The following functions are all under microprocessor-based electronics control: power supply; cycle drive; AC-to-DC conversion of the transducer measurement and processing according to ISO standards; digital display of the Rockwell hardness value; selection of cycle variables (test type and dwell time); tolerance range for the "go/no-go" function; display of the corresponding set values and of indentation depth; interfaces driving; self-diagnosis for rapid monitoring of the instrument electromagnetic and electronic components.

The operative interface to the instrument is simplified by a new interactive menu, which presents a backlight LCD display, provided with alphanumerical (8 lines x 16 characters) and graphic (128 x 4 pixels) readout as well as a new keyboard with 16 soft keys. The measuring device consists of a differential linear transducer, allowing a resolution of 0.0001 mm, which brings to a final resolution of 0.1 Rockwell units. Load selection is by means of a handy-placed knob on the right side of the machine. Test operation is automatic once the pre-loading effected by the operator has been confirmed by the appropriate signal.

The new software allows an automatic approximate conversion of the measured value to a different hardness scale or of resistance to tensile stress, calculation of statistical parameters, such as average value, standard deviation, max. and min. values and number of measurements. Besides, by means of the keyboard, it allows input of some parameters aimed at tests documentation (date, specimen No., batch No.). The display mode of results, (i.e. single measurement, list of all effected measurements, table with all statistical parameters, measurement histogram, "historical diagram") as well as the data output mode by means of three different interfaces (i.e. Centronics parallel to the printer, RS232C signal to PC or Host Computer, along with a special one for output to PC by keyboard emulation) complete the upgrading of the instrument.

The model Ergotest D1G125 RS can carry out Rockwell standard and superficial testing as well as Brinell and Vickers indentations, using the appropriate indenters. The Ergotest D1G125 R does not allow to carry out Rockwell superficial tests. Refer to relevant table for technical data.

The Ergotest COMP 25 R/A has the same special characteristic as the previous OPTI 25R model, differing only in that it uses a dial Gauge. The process electronic uses wired logic to control the linear electric actuator and a series of microswitches which carry out the test automatically, once the preloading effected by the operator has been confirmed by the appropriate signal. The measuring device consists of a shock-proof micrometer gauge with automatic zero setting. The 80 mm dial gives direct reading of the units and estimate of 0.2 Rockwell units. Load selection is by means of a handly-placed knob on the right side of the machine. In addition to the luminous power supply push button, the front panel mounts a switch for selecting load holding times over the range: 2-5- 10- 15-20-25-30 s. This switch can also be used to reset the instrument to the initial test conditions, should the operator make a wrong operation. The Ergotest COMP 25 R/A can carry out Rockwell standard testing and Brinell and Vickers indentations, using the appropriate indenters. As the digital versions, using the right indenters COMP 25 A RS instrument is available to carry out Rockwell superficial tests and Brinell, Vickers indentations. The Ergotest COMP machines are the most straightforward and rugged in construction, and the most versatile of the Galileo range. For applications where automation and sophistication are of secondary importance compared with operational and environmental conditions, these instruments, which require no electrical power supply, display to the full their excellent characteristics of reliability and of ease and cheapness of use. The measuring device consists of a shock-proof micrometer gauge with automatic zero setting. The 80 mm dial has a twin scale for Rockwell standard and superficial testing, giving direct reading of the units and estimate of 0.2 Rockwell units. Load selection is by manual insertion of the set of weights required for the test into the specific housing inside the instrument. Testing is carried out manually by operating the lever on the right side
