Heidenhain vrz cnc instructions

Heidenhain VRZ cnc instructions

1. Items Included in Delivery (Standard):
   - Bidirectional counters V RZ 316, 317
   - X-Y-Z coordinate plates
   - Fuse 0.4 A slow-blow, built-in
   - Fuse 0.63 A slow-blow, separate
   - Operating instructions and certificate of inspection

2. General Information:
   - The provided instructions contain all necessary information for setting the HEIDENHAIN bidirectional counter into operation.
   - The equipment is maintenance-free.
   - In case of defects that cannot be rectified by the customer, it is recommended to return the equipment to the HEIDENHAIN supplier or the factory in Traunreut for repair, either free of charge under guarantee conditions or at the customer's expense.

Based on the provided information:

4. Counter Installation:
   - The counter has feet on its underside with M5x7 threaded holes, allowing it to be secured to the machine or an independent stand.
   - Before securing, any excess rubber from the threaded holes should be removed.
   - Instructions for counter stacking can be found on page 11.
   - The counter should be installed in a way that ensures the display can be easily read without causing fatigue and the counter controls can be easily reached without endangering the operator.

5.2. Starting Procedure:
- After completing the mounting procedure and final check, connect the transducer to the appropriate counter inputs.
- Connect the counter to the mains supply and switch on the mains switch (1 = on, 0 = off).
- The counter display will illuminate when switched on, indicating that the transducer is receiving power and the equipment is operational.

5.3. RESET: Floating Zero Facility:
- The counter can be reset to zero at any position within the measuring range by pressing the RESET button (O).
- All decades will be reset to zero, allowing selective zero setting over the entire measuring length of the transducer or encoder.

5.4. PRESET: Establishing Datum Position:
- Dial the required value into the thumbwheel switches and enter this value into the counter display by pressing the appropriate "Δ" button.
- This feature allows the operator to enter a predetermined value into the counter and then work down towards zero, eliminating tedious addition and subtraction procedures.
- The PRESET facility enables the setting of a starting point with the aid of a predetermined value.

5.5. mm/inch Converter (with VRZ 316 only):
- The mm/inch converting switch is located on the front panel of the counter.
- In the "mm" position, the display shows measurements in 0.01 mm steps, with a counting sequence of the finest decade from 0 to 9 and then back to 0.
- In the "inch" position, the display shows measurements in 0.0005" steps, with a counting sequence of the finest decade from 0 to 5 and back to 0.
- Automatic placement of the decimal point occurs when converting from mm to inch.

5.6. MEMOSET Switch:
The MEMOSET switch allows selection of one of the three MEMOSET functions. Refer also to the "MEMOSET" section for more details.
- Red Indicator:
  - The indicator above the MEMOSET toggle switch illuminates red when the reference mark on the transducer is passed over, and the counting function ceases.
- White Dot:
  - The value indicated in the thumbwheel preset switches is automatically transferred into the counter upon passing over the reference mark of the transducer.
- White Circle "O":
  - No stop or preset functions are carried out when passing over the reference mark.

6. Working with MEMOSET:
6.1. Establishing the Workpiece Datum (Zero Reference Position of Workpiece):**
1. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the left-hand position (white circle).
2. Set the machine to the desired reference position or reference edge of the workpiece.
3. Reset the counter to zero by pressing the reset button ("0").
4. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the center position.
5. Traverse the machine until the zero reference mark of the HEIDENHAIN transducer is reached. Upon passing over the reference mark, the counter ceases to count, and the red indicator illuminates.
6. Dial the displayed position value of the counter into the thumbwheel preset switches. This value indicates the distance between the workpiece datum and the reference mark of the HEIDENHAIN transducer.
7. If further use of the thumbwheel preset switches is intended for other working procedures, it is advisable to take separate note of the previously obtained value.
8. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the right-hand position (white dot).
9. Traverse the machine over the same reference mark of the HEIDENHAIN transducer once again. The value entered into the thumbwheel preset switches is automatically transferred into the counter, which commences further counting from this value onwards.
10. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the left-hand position (white circle). In this position, no stop or preset functions take place when passing over the reference mark of the transducer.
11. Machining can now commence.

6.2. Re-establishing the Workpiece Datum:
If the workpiece datum has been lost (either reset or switched off), follow these steps to reproduce the distance between the workpiece datum and the reference mark of the HEIDENHAIN transducer:
1. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the right-hand position (white dot).
2. Traverse the machine over the same reference mark of the transducer as indicated in step 6.1. The value previously entered in the thumbwheel preset switches (i.e., the distance between the workpiece datum and the reference mark of the transducer) is automatically transferred into the counter.
3. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the left-hand position (white circle).
4. Machining can now continue.

6.3. Detection of Counting Errors:
1. Ensure that the workpiece datum has already been established in accordance with step 6.1.
2. The MEMOSET-toggle switch should be in the left-hand position (white circle).
3. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the center position.
4. Traverse the machine over the reference mark of the transducer as described in step 6.1. The counter should cease counting, and the displayed position value must correspond to the value in the thumbwheel preset switches.
5. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the right-hand position (white dot).
6. Traverse the machine over the reference mark of the transducer again.
7. Push the MEMOSET-toggle switch to the left-hand position (white circle).
8. Machining can now continue.

Always keep the MEMOSET-toggle switch in the left-hand position (white circle) during machining. The right-hand position (white dot) can also be used; however, when traversing over the reference mark of the transducer, the value shown in the thumbwheel preset switches is automatically re-entered into the counter display.

Caution:
If during operation the reset button "0" or preset button A is pressed, or the counter is momentarily switched off, proceed in accordance with step 6.2.
