Other plates can be supplied to special order. All cast iron used for lap plates and conditioning rings is of the grey type - Grade 300 to BS 1452, and is artificially aged by heat treatment prior to machining. The machine is self-contained and the rigid welded hollow section steel frame supports the reduction gearbox and drive motor and houses the abrasive compound feed tank and the waste tank. Access to these is provided by lift-off panels. This size of machine incorporates as standard a soft starting feature which will smoothly accelerate the lap plate from standstill to full speed over a predetermined time period. The ramp time can be selected by the user to suit actual process conditions.
