The MAS 140 Lathe is a compact machine with all the features of a standard single-pulley lathe, commonly used across various manufacturing sectors. The drive is directly transmitted from the motor to the headstock through two external Vee-belts, which are easily replaceable. All mechanisms for selecting spindle speeds and feed reversal are housed within the head.

The gears are hardened, tempered, and ground using MAAG equipment. The headstock spindle is made of alloy steel, hardened, and ground, running in adjustable TIMKEN taper roller bearings. The headstock, gearbox, and apron are fully enclosed, and their mechanisms operate in oil baths. A special externally adjustable clutch in the apron enables machining with automatic stops.

One notable feature of this lathe is its three prismatic-section bedways, which offer a contact area similar to that of a lathe with a 30% wider bed, ensuring greater accuracy maintenance.

The machine operates on a 24-volt electrical control system.
