The operator can set the tailstock position on the setup screen and move the tailstock to the correct position by menu key or M-code. Since the thrust force is also easily set by M-code, high accuracy turning of long workpieces is realized. Tailstock Advance to an Arbitrary Position 2 tailstock positions can be set in a single program by M-Code. The tailstock can move to a registered position at 2 different speeds, high speed: 8 m/min and low m/min. While the tailstock is in motion, the light embedded in the tailstock-advance key blinks. When the thrust force reaches the registered amount after contacting the workpiece, the tailstock stops and a buzzer sounds. Tailstock Retract to an Arbitrary Position in High Speed Mode An arbitrary position for tailstock retraction can be set by M-Code. Positioning at the rapid traverse rate of 8 m/min from the current position to an arbitrary position is set by parameter. While the tailstock is in motion, the light embedded in the tailstock-retract key blinks. Tailstock Retraction to Home Position The Tailstock returns to the home position at the rapid traverse rate of m/min. When the tailstock is in motion or is at the home position, the light embedded in the tailstock-retract key blinks. Innovative Technology The QUICK TURN NEXUS Il series utilizes a wide variety of advanced technologies in order to provide enhanced productivity. To ensure high-accuracy over a long service life, the magnitude and locations of force applied to individual units have been analyzed by 3D design structural analysis. Proper countermeasures have been taken to ensure rigidity in order to minimize distortion. Traverse Axis The linear guides utilized by the QUICK TURN NEXUS Il series provide much higher accuracy machining than conventional hardened and ground square slideways. Additionally, with their considerably lower friction and minimum heat generation, high-speed feed rates can be used while at the same time realizing stable machining. For minimum non-cutting time, the high-speed rapid traverse rate of the X/Z-axes are 30 m/min and 33 m/min. [QUICK TURN NEXUS 400-Il 450-Il series: 30m/min]. Additionally, fast, vibration-free acceleration/deceleration are realized thanks to the smooth high-gain servo control and high power AC servo motors

The QUICK TURN NEXUS II Y series features a rigid, double-slide Y-axis construction to withstand the cutting forces generated by heavy-duty turning and milling. Thanks to the Y-axis, a variety of machining, such as keyway finish machining, and OD drilling off with the workpiece centerline can be performed.

Extremely Operator Friendly Wide variety of optional equipment to meet any production requirement Designed for convenience, convenient tank cleaning Equipped as you like, for any production requirement

The QUICK TURN NEXUS II series is equipped with automatic compensation for room temperature changes, the INTELLIGENT THERMAL SHIELD, to realize enhanced continuous machining accuracy. Mazak has performed extensive testing in a variety of environments in a temperature-controlled room and has used the results to develop a control system that automatically compensates for temperature changes in the machining area. As a result, continuous machining accuracy better than 8 μm in a room temperature change of 8 C has been realized according to the MAZAK PRECISION STANDARD specification.

The double foot-pedal switch is used to open/close the chucks of the main and second spindles separately.

The standard method of opening/closing the chuck jaws of the main spindle and second spindle is by means of the foot switch. This option automatically opens/closes the chuck jaws hy program M-codes such as when the machine is equipped with a bar feeder system or gantry robot for the main and second spindles.

Coolant will become hot due to the heat generated by machining and may cause thermal displacement to machine components that can negatively affect machining accuracy. The coolant chiller unit maintains the coolant temperature to be the same as the room temperature, ensuring high-accuracy machining over extended periods of operation.

Coolant Chip Disposal: High-pressure coolant is supplied for the optimum chip removal and heat dissipation, strongly recommended when a U-drill is used.

Chips are removed by hinge-plate belt and discharged from the rear or side of the machine. Rear disposal is not available for MY and MSY models.

Environment and Safety Equipment: Detects machine ground leakage and cuts off the main power. Used as the main circuit breaker. All power is automatically shut off after machining. The main breaker of the machine is also shut off three minutes after finish of machining. The machine power is automatically turned on or off by machining programs. A buzzer is activated by the machining completion signal sent from the NC system. A yellow indicator light is illuminated upon receiving the machining completion signal from the NC system. Consists of three lights: from top, red for alarm, yellow for machining completion, and green for automatic operation. Machine front door is automatically opened and closed by an air cylinder, is automatically opened or closed when a cycle start is can also be automatically opened or closed by program M-codes for unmanned operation with a robot.

Manufacturer and model must be advised ahead of time in order to make necessary arrangements.

Automatically unloads machined workpieces from the machine into a parts container. Especially effective when used together with a bar feeder system.

This option automatically opens/closes the chuck jaws by program M-code such as when the machine is equipped with a bar feeder system or gantry robot.

Chuck pressure can be automatically changed by program M-codes, which is effective for machining various kinds of workpieces that need frequent chuck clamping pressure changes.

This function uses a turret-mounted touch sensor to automatically measure the inside and outside diameters, surface irregularity, machined workpiece, to perform tool corrections, and to maintain machining accuracy during unattended operation. The swing arm type of the automatic workpiece-measuring unit also allows highly accurate machining with a test-cutting macro to be started from the first workpiece.

Used to ensure safe and accurate machining of long workpieces.

Machine programs can be made and then checked for machine interference in the office using the MATRIX CAM system. Programs can be easily downloaded to the machine CNC over a network for convenient program management.
