Omera BTL BTR automatíon equipment

Omera BTL BTR  EXAMPLES OF APPLICATlONS
CUSTOM-DESIGNED HANDLING EQUIPMENT
This handout is introducing some types of automatíon equipment we have developed.
We started designing and building our own material and workpiece handling systems in 1980. Since then, our BTL module -previously called "ABO"- which has been
produced in various versions, has become quite popular with our
international clients, particularly in Europe. It has even been frequently used by our clients for automating machines which were not built by OMERA (up until now,
our automation equipment has not been sold by us separately but
only together with our own machines).
The prototype of the BTR 3/50 three-arm transfer unit (also
available in a two-arm version) was presented for the first time at the
1983 Milan Trade Fair, and immediately generated interest
amongst both end-users and sales specíalists of press automation equipment. Since then it has been exhibited at specialized shows in Europe, the U.S. and lndia.
In some cases we also supply completely custom-designed
handling equipment to meet the specific requìrements of our
clients. Here we show you two custom-built pick-and-place units,
whose features we think are particularly ínterestíng as regards their respective applications.
This handout is only focusing on the most common uses of the
above mentioned types of equipment. However, more examples of automated manufacturing processes (some also including other types of equipment) are shown in alternative
literature.
All this is dealt with more extensively in the "OMERA/1" videocassette, available ín a ½ version for VHS video equipment.
For a demonstratíon please contact our marketing department or your nearest OMERA representative.
A solidly-built, easy-to-run pneumo-mechanical loader/unloader suitable for press feeding
and for handling parts from one machine to another in automated
manufacturing processes.
It can be fitted with a vacuum head, a gripper, or a magnet, according to the type of piece to be handled, and it comes in two basic models (see table below).
The arm has a linear movement on a horizontal and a vertical axis.
Both its horizontal and vertical stroke lengths have stepless regulation; the mounting of the arm is adjustable in height

For BTL 1/60 and BTL 1/ 100:
NT CONVEYOR BELT (usually supplied in the following two sizes: 1,550 x 300 mm. and 2,000 x 500 mm.)
Used for feeding the pieces to the loader, complete with sensors
which stop the belt when a piece is in position.
It is also used for transporting the piece, unloaded by the BTL, to storage or to the next work-station (see diagrams for examples in the next pages).
The BTR 3/50 three-axis, hydraulically operated transfer unit is designed to handle upto three pieces simultaneously, moving them through a maximum of four stations in sequence.
The vertical stroke length has
stepless regulation.
This unit is run by a PLC. The arms can be fitted with vacuum heads,
grippers, or magnets. The BTR 2/50 version comes with two arms.

MAIN TECHNICAL DATA BTR 2/50 and BTR 3/50
Radial stroke length 500 mm.
Vertical stroke length 20 to 400 mm.
Angle of rotation 90°
Radial axis speed 1,000 mm./sec.
Vertical axis speed 500 mm./sec.
Rotation speed 1.5 rad./sec.
Rated payload (for each arm) 3 Kg.
lnstalled power 3 KW

This press feeding group, of exclusive OMERA design, consists of the following (in its standard setup):
- Destacker with (patented) mechanical blank separator
- Device automatically regulating the raising of the stack
- Pneumatically operated arm
- Blank lubrication device
- Stock holder for subsequent batch of blanks
-PLC
Its total working versatility, achieved by solving the well-known problem of separating non-ferromagnetic blanks, makes it an appreciably innovative product in the
field of pressroom automation equipment.
The arm is double-acting, also pushing out the previously stamped piece from the press.

MAIN TECHNICAL DATA DAT 60 - DAP 60
cycles minute, max. 12
lnstalled power 1 KW
Operating air pressure 6 bar
Approx. weight of group Kg. 700
Min. - max. diameter or side of blanks 200 - 600 mm.
Max. stacking height 350 mm.
Min. - max. working height of arm 1,050 - 1,300 mm.
Min. - max. sheet thickness 0,4 - 2,5 mm.

BTL 1/100 + NT and BTL 1/100 +
DL used as blank feeders for deep drawing presses.

BTL 1/60 + NT used for loading and unloading the workpieces to and
from a trimming-beading machine (capping plates for water heaters are shown here).

BTL 1/100 + NT used for feeding discs to a deep drawing press, and a
BTL 1/60 + NT for loading the
pressings onto the trimmíngbeading machine and unloading the finished pieces, in an automated production line for small half gas bottles. (Here, the BTL 1/60 also
ejects the scrap ring of the finished piece whilst loading the next pressing).

Use of four BTL 1/60 + NT units in a totally unmanned, high output OMERA production line for stainless steel lids. (Also in this example, the scrap ring ejection is performed -at the first two workstations- by the BTL's.)

BTR 3/50 + DL used for feeding discs to a deep drawing press, then
handling the pressings to the finishing station (trimming-beading machine) and then unloading the finished pieces, ín a typical OMERA automated production unit for mild
steel cooking pots.

BTR 3/50 used for feeding discs, taken directly from a blanking press,
to a deep drawing press, then handling the pressings to the finíshing station (trimming-beading machine) and then unloading the fínished pieces, in another example
of an OMERAautomated production unit simílar to the one above.

A custom-designed gantry type loader for alternatively feeding two
trimming-beading machínes, picking the pressings (water heater capping plates) off a roller conveyor leading from a deep drawing press.

Horizontal shift 850 mm.
Vertical shift 100 mm.
Rated payload 6 Kg.

A hydraulically operated pick-andplace unit, with two arms at 1200, designed for handling heavy workpieces (dished ends).
The unit is run by a PLC, and the arms are fitted with permanent electromagnets.
