Safop TRANSPORTATION 4, TURNING SYSTEM lathe  LEONARD 

The LEONARD turning system is the most innovative solution for multi-machining operations on horizontally rotating workpieces of large dimensions and heavy weights. This sophisticated series of machines covers the normal type CNC lathes and machines equipped with multi-purpose units; moreover, it includes machining centers capable of automatically exchanging working pallets onto the cross slide.

The modular concept of these machines allows tailored solutions to match productivity and flexibility. High rigidity and accuracy are assured during all the machine life, thanks to the preloaded hydrostatic ways. This feature is common to all the various LEONARD models.

HEADSTOCK

The rigid and sturdy structure of the headstock, together with the oversized hydrostatic bearings, enables the most efficient use of working parameters to obtain high production and accuracy. All types of chucks can be supplied for supporting the workpiece, with manual or hydraulic clamping, with independent jaws or self-centering type.

TAILSTOCK

Common features and special executions can be included in the tailstock assembly. A Belleville spring allows the linear expansion of the workpiece, and an electronic strain-gauge monitors continuously the thrust applied. The center is mounted on the rotating bush with an ASA taper.

The quill is equipped with two tailstock chucks, deep boring attachment, and other accessories.

CARRIAGE UNIT

The unique design of the carriage unit allows better precision and productivity. The ways on the bed and the ways on the carriage are preloaded hydrostatically to guarantee high rigidity and accuracy.
