Underfloor lathes for railway vehicle maintenance Underfloor wheelset lathes have been designed to reprofile wheelsets in situ without disassembly on all types of rolling stock. These lathes are the most modern answer to the maintenance needs of the contemporary rolling stock. Their compact design allows complete installation into limited areas of the wheels. Thanks to the high automation and productivity of these machines, their use inside railway depots is continually increasing. SAFOP has developed a complete line of underfloor wheelset lathes to meet the different reprofiling needs of:
Two wheels of a wheelset
Two wheels of a wheelset and disc brakes

Four wheels simultaneously on one bogie Thanks to the rigidity of the machine and the accuracy of the control systems, high processing precision is obtained. Wheel reprofiling is performed with the need to reduce machining cycles and have a quick and easy change of inserts.

SAFOP MACHINE TOOLS Passing version In the passing version, the underfloor wheelset lathe has a free central zone between the columns. This design allows the operator an unrestricted visibility of the entire working area.

DB version with cross beam The DB version has a crossbeam between the two main columns. This design feature allows the addition of tool holders for disc brake machining and the installation of bearing box supports where bearing boxes are situated on the axle between the wheels.
