Schiess Froriep DV DF Single column vertical boring mills with movable or fixed column

Single column DV DF vertical boring mills with movable or fixed columns are constructed by SCHIESS Froriep , which claims to have pioneered this area of heavy duty machine tool building. The machines, such as the DV and DF types, have a wide range of special attachments for milling, drilling, and grinding, as well as NC systems, tool changers, and high precision measuring systems. These machines can be converted into machining centers for workpieces that require several different operations in a single setup. The machines are suitable for situations where workpieces frequently change in diameter, but where maximum workpiece dimensions are rare. The machines have a minimum floor space requirement, universal adaptability, and economical advantages. The use of table spiders enables maximum turning diameters, and reactor vessels up to 10.5 meters in height can be turned vertically using the DV type machine. The modern design of these machines is characterized by rigid all steel construction optimized by computers. A variety of special attachments are available for milling, drilling, and grinding, as well as NC systems, tool changers, and high precision measuring systems. The machines have a wide range of applications, from solving unusual problems in the nuclear industry to space travel using the universal machining center SPHEROMILL with 5 axis NC. The machines have manual numerical control panels for entering all numerical controls by hand. The control panel allows the pre selection of feed sizes in the Nm range, and conical profiles can be machined with high accuracy without swiveling the support turning part by entering the tangent value or coordinates. Linear interpolation is also possible, enabling the machining of radio of all sizes without copying templates. The input of the path with automatic shielding can be expanded to automatic working cycles, and digital displays of axis positions and table positions are part of the modern equipment.
Modern Technology

A carrier beam utilizing the SCHIESS FRORIEP system German patent relieves the cross rail of the tool head weight and ensures full efficiency of the high precision narrow guides at all times. This guarantees extreme workpiece squareness and flatness in any tool head position. The table runs on hydrostatic bearings, with each pocket of the annular slideway face being supplied by its own pump. This arrangement provides a high damping factor and works without any wear whatsoever. This hydrostatic system, together with radial guiding by a double row parallel roller bearing, ensures the high sustained accuracy of the machine. Additional SCHIESS special attachments include the SERVOLIFT operator platform with vertical and horizontal travel, independent of the crossrail photos, and grinding attachments with vertical grinding spindle, fitted to the tool on line tool slide, which can also be used horizontally for surface grinding or motorized grinding heads for mounting in chip conveyor systems. Toolholders with bayonet fastening can be clamped to the tool slide hydromechanically, and the four station tool post then permits power indexing in increments of 90 degrees. The above information pertains to tooling systems and machines, with a focus on their modern engineering and their specific capabilities.
