The ASCAMILL machine has a highly stable concept with a moving table, combining high precision and excellent dynamics. It offers flexible solutions for all your 5-side machining tasks, with table sizes up to mm x mm and maximum workpiece weights up to kg. The ASCAMILL series was developed in close cooperation with the University of Magdeburg for use in demanding production applications. The joint development project used engineering and design methods of heavy-duty machine tools, with the latest software applications.

The ASCAMILL machine's columns, connection parts, and cross rail are made of high-quality casting, with the cross rail being steplessly adjustable. All CNC axes are based on centrally lubricated linear guideway systems, and the proven Masterhead System allows for flexible and technology-specific application of different machining heads. The automatic tool changing system with a chain magazine is vertically mounted on the left-hand column of the machine and can be loaded or unloaded during the machining process.

The machine is equipped with CNC control Sinumerik 840D s1 and energy-efficient servo drives, and direct absolute measuring systems eliminate the need for reference runs. The slim design of the ram is the result of a detailed finite element analysis, enabling powerful machining, and ram and ram housing are made of cast design. The C-axis, integrated into the ram, can be positioned steplessly.

The new table is based on bionic design principles and manufactured as a special honeycomb structure. It is highly inherently stable and weight-optimized. The table feed in the X-direction and the support saddle representing the Y-axis are driven by servomotor, gears, and double pinion/rack, guaranteeing maximum stiffness and accuracy. The drives of the linear axes X and Y are electronically pre-loaded.

The machine housing is designed around the columns with good access to the head and tool, and electrically lowerable doors enable fast and efficient loading and unloading procedures. Chip conveyors and many access doors around the machine ensure excellent maintainability. The operator platform and machine control are on the right side, with electrical cabinets, coolant unit, and the hydraulic unit integrated into the machine housing.
