The following is a description of a grinding machine and its components:

The Alirounder is a machine designed for complex grinding jobs, known as The Art of Grinding. It is manufactured by Studer, which is a part of Körber Schlfifring. This machine has several advantages, including its dimensions, software, and reduced setup and dressing times. It is also equipped with standardised interfaces for loader and peripheral devices.

The machine has a turret wheelhead with automatic swivel, which enables complete machining with up to four grinding wheels. It also has a high-resolution B-axis for grinding cylindrical and tapered parts in one workpiece program, and a C-axis for the workhead enabling form and thread grinding. Additionally, the machine has a full enclosure with sliding doors and a Granitan S103 mineral-cast machine base.

The longitudinal and cross slides of the machine are manufactured from high-quality gray cast iron and have highly precise, ground V and flat guideways. These axes can be equipped with rotating or linear measuring systems, depending on the user's requirements.

The wheelhead is the most important component for complete machining. It has an integrated B-axis that swivels automatically, making it possible to use up to four grinding wheels. The basic position of the B-axis is set by the 1-degree Hirth gear, and the simultaneous fine-positioning via a special cam adjustment device. Combinations of up to four external grinding wheels and three internal grinding wheels produce 30 basic configurations.

The machine also has a workhead that enables both live spindle grinding and grinding between centers. It is also equipped with a pneumatic lifting device to facilitate movement during setup and setting. The workheads are equipped with bearings, are low-maintenance, and have excellent roundness accuracy of under 0.008 mm during live spindle operations.
