Thousands of machines have been delivered all over the world for different industrial purposes. In Brazil, Wotan began its activities in 1974 in the town of Gravataí, State of Rio Grande do Sul, where a new plant was designed, built, and installed using the same project as the German plant.

Aerostatic supporting system applied on rectilinear pathways. In this antifriction guide system, clean, dry, and filtered air is introduced into a preloaded gap between the stationary machine members and the slides. Properly selected slideway dimensions, air pressure, and preload create a very stiff, virtually friction-free interface. The way surfaces and guides are lined with hardened and ground steel inserts.

The spindle system is applied with hydrostatic bearings, which allow the working spindle to fluctuate on an oil film under controlled pressure and temperature. This system makes higher rotations feasible with higher diameter spindles, maintaining excellent levels of torque and power at maximum rigidity.

The Micro-rond system consists of inserting one pre-adjusted bearing to reduce elasticity and two roller bearings to relieve the milling tree from pressures generated by the main gear. This procedure provides the system radial rigidity. A set of angular sphere bearings provides the axial rigidity to the application. Better results are obtained concerning machining precision, main motor power transmission and performance, as well as thermal control of the system.

In classic horizontal boring and milling machines, hardened and ground steel guides are used. This brings to the machine a concept that determines that rigidity, stiffness, and power availability provide maximum precision when machining harder materials.
