TBT TIEFBOHRTECHNIK is offering a Deep Hole Drilling Milling Center, the BW250-S, for tool and mold makers as well as special applications. When angular drilling or milling, the unit must bear axial and cross forces, making dynamic stability during machining a priority. The main column unit of the BW250-S offers greater stability and rigidity than common portal solutions while providing open access for tool changes and workpiece setup. An automatic tool changer for long deep hole drilling tools allows the machine to operate unsupervised, and accessories like Renishaw probe sensors, special clamping arrangements, and additional feed axis are also available. The machine offers high speed gundrills for a 4-fold increase in feed rates compared to conventional gundrills. The machine is capable of deep hole drilling and milling without interference between the milling and deep hole drilling spindle, simplifying the programming process. The Deep Hole Drilling / Milling Unit features one spindle with two functions. The automatic tool reception spindle is driven back to its home position for deep hole drilling, and the drill bush holder goes automatically diagonal downwards. The changeover process between conventional machining and deep hole drilling is achieved with minimal manual intervention. The machine is capable of deep hole drilling with gundrills ranging from 3-35 mm and with indexable insert drills up to 40 mm, milling up to 250 cm/min, and threading up to M27 x 3 with larger threads by circular milling. The NC clamping table comes in two sizes and can hold up to 25000 daN with additional fixed tables and NC rotary tables available as options. The machine also features a 5-axis milling capability for complete machining of surfaces, sides, and deep hole drilling. The Varíoflex MD 30 is the first 5-axis milling machine that is also capable of uncompromised deep hole drilling.
