ECKOLD Kraftformer Machines and Forming Tools Safety Instructions and Overview

Important Safety Instructions:

DO NOT use ECKOLD Kraftformer Machines for purposes other than metal forming operations.

DO NOT use tools of foreign design or modify the tools while the ram is moving.

DO NOT allow untrained personnel to operate these machines.

Strictly follow the Instruction Manual.

Always consult the manufacturer for any repair work that needs to be carried out on the machine.

Forming Tools and Spare Parts:

ECKOLD offers a range of forming tools and spare parts for their Kraftformer machines. These tools are specifically designed for use with ECKOLD machines and may be damaged if used in machines of other brands.

The tools are built for forming sheet metals and are provided in a modular format, allowing for easy replacement of worn-out parts.

Tool Design and Functionality:

Standard Forming Tools: These tools are versatile and not limited to a single workpiece. The desired shape is formed step by step, as opposed to traditional press forming or deep-drawing methods. Each stroke of the ram executes one working cycle, where the workpiece is manually guided between the tool's working surfaces.

Tool Operation: The tool and workpiece interact in a manner that gradually shapes the material. The workpiece is fed by hand into the tool, and the shaping is controlled through the machine's feed speed and working pressure.

Tooling for Small Workpieces: In cases where smaller radii or narrow edge zones are present, smaller tools are used. Larger tools are preferred for reducing surface pressure.

Rubber-Metal Components: Rubber-metal elements are critical in the design of these tools. They are used to redirect vertical movement into horizontal movement (as in the case of stretching or shrinking), or to provide spring action and movement compensation. These rubber parts must not be oiled or greased to avoid damage.

Tool Maintenance:

Worn Tool Parts: The modular design of ECKOLD tools allows for individual replacement of worn parts. It is important to replace parts using the part number listed in the catalog when ordering.

Set Replacements: To maintain uniformity, tools should be replaced in complete sets, especially the upper and lower halves of tools. This ensures consistent quality across the tool.

Machine Compatibility:

Exclusively for ECKOLD Machines: All ECKOLD forming tools are specifically designed for ECKOLD Kraftformer machines and should only be used in these machines. Using them in other types of machines could cause significant damage to both the tool and the machine.

Material Capacity: The capacity data provided for the tools is based on sheet metal with a deep-drawing quality of 400 N/mm² tensile strength. For stainless steel, the rating is 600 N/mm², and for aluminum, it's 250 N/mm².

Tool Descriptions in the Catalog:

Spare parts and tools are illustrated and described in the catalog. For any orders, always reference the part number.

The catalog also clarifies which parts are consumable, and those that require regular replacement.

ECKOLD Kraftformer tools and machines are designed for precision and durability in metal forming processes. Adhering strictly to safety instructions and using only the recommended tools for specific ECKOLD machines ensures optimal performance and longevity of both the tools and the machines. Always consult the manual for specific operating procedures and maintain tools by replacing worn parts in complete sets.
