Gehring gehring blind bore honing tools

Blind Bore Honing Tools GEHRING Blind Bore Honing Tools have been developed to give optimum performance, particularly with blind bore conditions. This tool series, TS, is characterized by the honing stones being level with the bottom end of the tool, and the honing shoes being fed parallel via the center cone. The undercut clearance at the end of the bore can be fully utilized for the honing head stroke. Honing tools for the diameter range of 14 - 130 mm are seen in the tool list in two different stone lengths. For diameters over 130 mm, the normal T. N. honing heads can be used.

The rigidity of the honing tool is crucial for achieving good cylindricity. The groove for the shoe is not cut through to the end of the tool, maintaining rigidity. Retraction of the honing shoes, when honing operation is completed, is carried out by 2 external coil springs for tools from 65 -130 mm diameter. For the range of 17 - 65 mm diameter, a pin retraction system coupling the shoe to the center cone is used during reversal.

For a 55 mm diameter, 4-piece tool with 2 cones, 60 mm long stones, and a bayonet connection length of 90 mm, the designation is: TS 55 42 / 60 / 90 Blind Bore Design Nominal Diameter No. of Shoes No. of Cones Length of Honing Stone Connection Length Pin Retraction

GEHRING tools are hardened and ground at all important points, ensuring precision, longevity, and the best possible bore geometry and economy. They can be used universally, equipped with either vitrified or diamond honing stones. The connection links with these tools can be adapted with a rigid, semi-rigid, or double-joint connection system.

The honing tools are available with different stone lengths based on the size of the undercut clearance. When the clearance is restricted, pivoting shoes can be used. The last page of this leaflet shows possible variations of honing tools available for blind bore honing. The design of the honing tool is of decisive importance for achieving optimum bore geometry.
