BED
It has been carefully designed to ensure absolute rigidity under the most severe working conditions. The frame is made of pearlitic cast iron, fully stress-relieved and aged to eliminate any possibility of distortion. The slide ways are induction hardened and ground, with internal ribs ensuring rigidity. Very large collectors are provided for turnings. The series with an upper bed movable can be equipped with a rear bed complete with independent and automatic carriages. This equipment offers the possibility of working pieces of large diameter on all the length of the gap.

HEADSTOCK

The spindle is driven by means of hydraulic clutches with an incorporated device allowing the adjustment of the spindle rotation. The braking of the movement is effected by a hydraulic brake, acting on all speeds. The brake is automatically engaged; should this not be required, it is possible to eliminate the brake by a selector switch. Clutches and brake are largely dimensioned to assure power and elasticity of movement. The lubrication has been carefully studied in order to prevent emulsifying of oil and consequent overheating. All gears and shafts are hardened and ground.

SPINDLE
Large in dimension with a large hole, it is supported at 3 points. Its large size and the high-quality ball thrust bearings avoid any vibration. The rotation movement is effected by a helical gear.

TAILSTOCK
The sleeve and body are largely dimensioned to provide great stability and rigidity. The longitudinal traverse of the tailstock is driven by a pinion engaging the rack placed under the ways of the bed.

CARRIAGE
The carriage slides on the bed via a prismatic guide and rearward via a flat one. These guides are lubricated by an incorporated hand pump. The cross slide is very sturdy, capable of supporting a tool holder or a hydraulic copying device.

The measurement D is the maximum possible according to Schlesinger rules. In case the measurement D should be exceeded, use supports for the movable bed.

The movement of the Norton box is achieved by a shaft of the head. The Norton box offers a large range of pitches for threads and feeds without the necessity of any gear change. All gears and shafts are made of special hardened steel and are lubricated in oil bath. A lubricating pump allows lubrication to the bed cross slide. An electric motor incorporated in the apron enables quick longitudinal and cross movements.
