The Hurco Autobend Systems Power Press Brake Gauging

Autobend IV, The Most Advanced Control in Automatic Press Brake Gauging. Achieves higher press brake productivity with more accurate single-axis control of sheet metal parts. Advanced in design and capability, Autobend IV is a practical, easy-to-use control. Microprocessor circuitry and carry-forward feature make data entry effortless. This compact, pendant-mounted control offers unexcelled ease of programming.

Keylock switchable inch/metric is a standard feature. The control can program one part at a time, or store up to 30 part programs. Multiple program keys allow creating or easily accessing multiple programs stored in the control memory. Autobend IV offers 100-station memory, with a 3-month battery back-up and plug-in options up to 250 stations.

Program recall takes only seconds. Unique gauge retract with programmable time delay gives maximum control of gauge positioning. The gauge can be single-cycled from the control face, or advanced by machine stroke. Diagnostic routines are provided to assure that the system is operating properly.

Autobend IV, Precise Automatic Control of Gauge Length and Bend Angle. The two-axis control permits the operator to key-in both gauge dimensions and angles directly from a print or program sheet, without costly trial and error manual set-ups.

The CNC control memory allows up to 100 different settings for bend lengths and bend angles. These settings can be divided among a maximum of 30 programs with 250 stations for ample program storage. Automatic gauge retraction with programmed time delay is a standard feature. Diagnostic routines are provided to assure that the system is operating properly.

The two-axis system can be installed without physical modification on most hydraulic press brakes which employ limit switches, and on most Promecam press brakes.

Most multiple bend/multiple angle parts can be formed in one handling. Gauges are automatically positioned between bends, and the press brake ram is stopped at the positions required to produce the desired angularity for each bend as programmed. Air form tooling required for maximum bend versatility.

Autobend S4, Compact. Rugged Single Housing Unit. Rear Gauges are designed for one-operator press brakes up to 10 feet. Closed-loop servo system maintains constant approximate 100 lb. force. The rear gauge is self-contained and center-mounted with housing approximately 22 inches wide by 4 inches high and either 27 or 39 inches long. Two precision Zero Reference Bars are furnished. Optical encoders are used for position feedback. Horizontal adjustment is 6 inches with 8 inches vertical adjustment. Model S4-12R allows 0 to 12 inches gauge bar positioning, and model S4-24R allows 0 to 24 inches. The gauge housing is specifically designed to avoid excessive protrusions that could interfere with the operator's movements or placement of the machine near a wall. The housing also provides protection for the drive screw and motor assembly. Tilting gauge bar is optional on S4 system.

Autobend S5, Front, Rear, or Combination Systems for Heavy Sheet Metal Forming. Front gauges are designed for one or two-operator work on hydraulic or mechanical press brakes from 6 to 16 feet. Models S5 can be used as stand-alone systems, or purchased in combination with S4 or S5 rear gauges. Up to 100 gauge positions/stations may be programmed at one time, 250 stations optional. Keylock switch provides dimensioning in either inch or metric units. Vertically adjustable gauge pedestals to reduce handling of long parts, or front extension gauges are available to extend the gauging range up to 30 inches beyond the 12-inch front gauge travel. Two precision Zero Reference Bars are furnished to establish a precise 8-inch dimension from the center of the forming tool to the ground end of the reference bars. Each front gauge housing is approximately 7 inches wide by 5 inches high by 29 inches long. Gauging accessories include front pin gauging, front flip finger gauging, front extension gauging of 10, 20, or 30 inches, and special gauge mounting rails.

Autobend S5, Rear, or Combination Systems for Heavy Sheet Metal Forming. Rear gauges are designed for one or two-operator parts formed on mechanical or hydraulic press brakes from 6 to 16 feet. They can be purchased as stand-alone systems or in combination with S5 front gauges. Increased gauge bar rigidity does not require mechanical linkage between the twin units, allowing them to be easily spaced apart, especially with bed lengths over 10 feet. The gauge bar is counterbalanced and pivoted to allow clearance for flanges formed in the opposite direction. Twin drives keep the center of the press brake clear for cumbersome or unusual parts. Up to 100 gauge positions/stations may be programmed at one time, 250 optional. Gauge travel range is 12 or 24 inches, depending on gauge model. Tilting gauge bar and four pivoted gauge fingers are furnished. Two reference bars permit fast setup in referencing a new set of forming tools to the gauging system, establishing a precise 4-inch dimension from the center of the forming tool to the ground end of the reference bars.

Autobend P2, Heavy-Duty Rear Gauge Systems for Light Plate Forming. Plate gauges are designed for forming parts of nominal 3/8-inch plate and parts that do not exceed 600 pounds in weight, on mechanical or hydraulic press brakes 10 to 18 feet. The systems offer an increased gauging range of 36 and 48-inch travels for heavy forming. Up to 100 gauge positions/stations may be programmed at one time, with an optional 250 station capacity. The gauge bar can be positioned from 0 to 36 inches or 0 to 48 inches from the centerline of the forming tools. The long dimension projects away from the press brake bed, where each housing is bolted on the rear of the bed. The gauge bar has 12 inches of vertical adjustment and is available in lengths up to a maximum of 162 inches. Gauge fingers, which project 6 inches away from the main gauge surface, and tilting gauge bar are furnished. Two precision Zero Reference Bars establish a precise 6-inch dimension from the center of the forming tool to the ground end of the reference bars.

Standard Components and MDS, Multiple Depth Stop Option. Control features synchronize manually preset depth settings with gauge positions for hydraulic press brakes using electrical limit switches for ram reversal at the bottom of the stroke and ram stopping at the top of the stroke. Note: The customer must equip the press brake with multiple depth stop limit switches.

Multibend Option. For Promecam press brakes equipped with the Multibend optional feature only. This control synchronizes stop settings and gauge positions by unidirectionally advancing the Multibend turret from one stroke arrest position to the next position desired.

Optional Expanded Memory Capacity. In lieu of the standard 100 stations, 30 programs, a 250 station capacity, 60 programs is available.

Tape Cassette Option Provides flexibility with all part programs stored on mini tape cassettes, eliminating manual reprogramming for each production run. Each mini tape cassette stores 500 stations or 120 parts. Option includes Standard components include the addition of the read/write head to the pendant controller and expanded processor control with pendant memory capacity. Mounting support arm, two reference bars, power supply, and servo amplifier.

Tilting Gauge Bar Tilting gauge bar accommodates return flanges. Standard on S5 and Plate Gauges, optional on S4.

Engineered for Maximum Reliability and Versatility Hurco Manufacturing Company, Inc. Autobend gauging systems can double press brake productivity for most short runs. Consistent accuracy achieved with Autobend also reduces scrap substantially. All systems have positive lead screw drive, eliminating backlash and slippage typical of right-angle gearbox or friction-type drives. Components are conservatively rated for greater durability and longer life.

Installation by customer and Hurco service engineer. Gauges shipped directly to the customer for basic mounting of mechanical components and power source to the control box. A Hurco service engineer assists in the final hookup, performs installation check-out, and trains customer personnel in system operation.
