Key technological features of the HYDRA range include:

- Vertical movement facilitated by two gearmotors, two recirculation ball screws, and two optical scales.
- Table movement driven by a motorized nut system and a fixed screw with a diameter of 80/100 mm.
- Lubrication of spindle-head bearings regulated by temperature control.
- The rotary table can be either positioning or continuous (axis in motion), with movement facilitated by a double moto-pinion system, flat sliding, and forced lubrication for oil recycling.
- Capable of handling loads ranging from 10 to 40 tons.
- Head balancing achieved through a hydraulic closed-loop system.
- Torque transmission ensured by an efficient system involving a Siemens motor, ZF gearbox, and our gearbox, monitored by probes controlling coolant and temperature.

ALTAIR is a range of floor type boring-milling machines with double column and central head, representing the complete offering for processing mechanical details of medium-big size. The range is complemented by the floor type milling machine ALTAIR HEAD, featuring only the milling option.

 

The Ram is entirely enclosed in 2 very large cast iron half-carriages (lower and upper) to achieve a rigid and unique system with a section of 450 x 430 mm or 500 x 460 mm, sliding on 4 flat guides. The vertical motion is driven by 2 gearmotors with 2 recirculating ball screws and 2 optical scales. Two vertical front guides and two vertical rear guides, with sliding blocks assembled on 4 hydraulic cylinders, ensure a rigid and precise box-in-box system.

The RAM encloses 2 active tie-rods, operated by two hydraulic moto-cylinders, regaining cast-iron elasticity and ensuring extraordinary straightness in movements. The compensation system through the RAM flexion and expansion (SCR system) utilizes a particular steel, non-deformable and insensitive to temperature, used in the aerospace sector.

Head balancing occurs through two supporting spots linked to 2 independent hydraulic cylinders, monitored by the CNC to detect any strain or deformation. The oil cooling process of the head is managed by a double refrigerator to maintain a constant temperature for precision.

Constant temperature and lubrication of the spindle-head bearings are monitored by the CNC. The SIEMENS spindle motor with variable power from 37 to 73 kW (depending on the machine model), along with the gear box and second transmission box, ensures efficient torque. The water-cooled motor, with liquid held in the refrigerator, maintains a constant temperature.

The X-axis sliding is driven by 2 interdependent geared motors to recover clearance. Rotary tables, integral to the system, have motion transmission through a double moto-pinion for continuous movement and flat sliding, with forced lubrication adapting to different loadings (from 10 to 60 tons).

Machine fabrication focuses on safety, with ergonomic and highly secure solutions for safety cabs, pipes systems, changing tools, changing heads with pick-up stations, telescopic covers, cooling systems, and other essential components to deliver prestigious machinery.
