MicroStep Group

The MicroStep Group is a collaborative association of companies focused on developing, producing, and delivering advanced CNC cutting systems. These systems encompass a range of cutting technologies, including plasma, flame, waterjet, and laser cutting systems.

History and Formation

MicroStep Ltd., the core company within the group, was founded in 1991 by a team of experts from the Department of Control and Automation at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The founders, with extensive experience in multi-axis motion control systems, initially aimed to create microprocessor-based control technologies for various industrial applications. Over time, their expertise in CNC machine control systems naturally led to the development of cutting machines. By 1994, MicroStep began manufacturing plasma cutting machines, marking the beginning of its expansion in the CNC cutting industry.

Expansion and Innovations

In collaboration with the Slovak company IQM Ltd., which contributed a skilled team of design engineers, MicroStep expanded its range to include machines equipped with plasma, oxyfuel, waterjet, laser, and high-speed spindle technologies. This partnership fueled rapid growth, resulting in the establishment of several key subsidiaries:

In 2007, MicroStep Photonics GmbH was launched, dedicated to advancing laser cutting technology and applications. Another subsidiary, MicroStep CDM Ltd. (formerly Compet Database Marketing Ltd.), now oversees the group’s marketing, corporate identity, web design, and public relations efforts.
