BED
The bed, of very rigid, double wall structure, is manufactured from Meehanite cast íron, submítted to a stabilízíng heat treatment. The bed slideways are induction hardened to approximately 450 Bńnnel hardness and ground. The gap has been elímínated for improved ńgídity, while large chip disposal openings ensure easy removal of the chips which are collected in the underlying chip pan.

APRON
All mechanísms for the longítudínal and cross feeds of the cross slide and top slíde are incorporated ín the apron. Reverse of movement is through a double electromagnetic clutch, which feeds are engaged by electromagnetic toothed clutches. Rapid traverses are powered by an electríc motor, íncorporatíng a safety flexible coupling. Thé case-hardened and hardened
gears and shafts are mounted on beańngs. Lubńcation is through an eccentríc-operated píston pump. Two safety microswitches prevent rotatíon of the handwheel during rapid traverses and
engagement of the leadscrew during turning. A multiple traverse límít swítch wíth relative tríp dogs provídes 5 automatic longitudinal stops. A selector swítch on the control panel enables semiautomatic turníng and thread cuttíng cycles to be performed.

SADDLE
The saddle consísts of a rugged, Meehanite cast iron construction, wíth ample bearing areas on the bed. The cross slide and top slíde ways are induction hardened and ground; moreover
they are adjustable wíth taper gibs. Movements are powered by adjustable screws and nuts, whíle they are read on large graduated verníer scales. A control permíts engagement of the
automatic feeds of the top slide, while a mícroswitch protects
agaínst engagement of the cross traverse control.

ELECTRICAL EOUIPMENT
The electrícal equípment, housed in a spray- and dust-proof cabínet, consísts of components supplíed by the most reputabl manufacturers and approved in accordance wíth internatíon standards. All controls are of the low voltage type. A program
mable logíc controller controls the machíne functíons. The electrícal equipment, which includes protective devices and circuít with safety ínterlocks, also contains the digítal drive controlling the main motor.
TAILSTOCK
The tailstock is mounted on preloaded bearings and can be moved along the bed by hand. Locking is by means of two tíe-rods connected to relative clamps. The tailstock body can be crosswise moved to perform operatíons with a slight taper. The taílstock spíndle, of high strength steel, is hardened, ground and honed, while its feed is read off a large vernier scale

AUTOMATIC CYCLES
The machine provided with a proper digital readout allows the automatíc execution of turning and thread cutting cycles (both internal and external).
