HEADSTOCK
The headstock body is a heavy well ribbed Meehanite type casting. 34 49 kw main motor with 21 spindle speeds ensures optimal cutting conditions for all turning operations.The spindle speeds are easily selected by levers. Two electromagnetic clutches control forward and reverse speeds of the spindle, a separate brake ensures fast spindle stop also when a heavy workpiece is machined as well as in case of power failure.
Om request TR lathes can be delivered in version with spindle indexed at every 10 deg All headstock gears and shafts are made of high alloy steel, induction hardened and ground.
FEEDS AND THREADS
A mechanical preselection system of feeds simplifies thread cutting operations. All metric, inch and modul threads are obtained with the same set of gears, there is no necessity to change gears at all, selected feeds and threads are changed by a lever situated on the feed box.
All gears and shafts in the apron are made of high alloy steel, the gears and spine shafts are case hardened and ground. It is available to cut 62 metric threads, 50 modul and 61 inch threads machined according to ISO standards. On request at extra charge additional set of gears is availabe for cutting DP and CP threads

MAIN SPINDLE
The main spindle made of high alloy steel has a 120 mm bore and spindle nose A1 15 according to standards.
Minimum distance between the face of the spindle and the front bearing ensures high accuracy when finishing as well as high efficiency when roughing.
TOP SLIDE
The power feed to the top slide is a standard feature on the TR lathes. The top slide swivels through 360 deg and has 470 mm of power feed. This feature is very useful in taper turning, taper boring and conical facing both concave and convex.
The 4 way tool post is located on the top slide T slots and can be indexed and locked at every 5 deg.
The grinding or milling attachments can be fixed on the same T slots.
Changing the type of the tool post is also very easy, especially for Multifix or Tooifix models.

THE BED
The bed of the TR lathes is cast in Poreba's own foundry. Its a heavily ribbed double wall Meehanite type high grade casting. Double V guideways for saddle are induction hardened 45 54 Hrc and ground.
Separate guideways for tailstock are provided, one vee and one flat ways.
For machining large diameter short workpieces removable gap pieces is provided. Maximum dia of workpiece
The design of the bed enables extension by 1 m increments up to a maximum distance between centers of 18,000 mm.
AUTOMATIC LUBRICATION
All gears and bearings in the headstock, in the feed gearbox and quadrant change gears are lubricated automatically. A built in filter cleans the oil. Cooling of the oil is not necessary due to the provision of a large tank.
OPERATION
The required spindle speeds are easily selected by levers situated on the headstock control panel.
All spindle speeds are engaged through gears.
Change of spindle speed direction can be obtained by push buttons on the headstock or saddle control panels.
The feed box design ensures the choice of all feeds and all threads without change of any gears. The rigid tailstock is guided along the bed by an inner V and a flat way.
The 190 mm dia quill has a travel of up to 300 mm.
The quill travel is effected by a 2 step gearbox with,
ratios its very helpful during drilling operations. Manual travel of the tailstock is obtained by a pinion and a rack bolted to the bed. Positive locking on the bed is provided by four belts. Rapid travel of the tailstock is available when the tailstock is coupled wìth the saddle.
