Scherer WDZ Turning machines

SCHERER FEINBAU SHAFT TURNING MACHINES

The WDZ 250 and WDZ 250 Duo shaft turning machines are designed for manufacturing camshafts, flanged shafts, transmission shafts, main and auxiliary shafts, or crankshafts with a diameter of up to 250 mm. The machines have a stroke of 320 mm in the X-axis and 1290 mm in the Z-axis, making it possible to process workpieces up to 1100 mm in height and 250 mm in diameter. The spindles are powered by a synchronous drive of up to 38 kW and a maximum of 5500 RPM, with high rapid traverse rates of up to 40 m/min that reduce non-productive times. These space-saving machines can be easily combined in production lines.

For larger shaft components, consider the WDZ 350 shaft turning machines with a steady rest or the WDZ 350 Duo with two independent steady rests, designed for manufacturing drive pinions, transmission shafts, and gearwheels with a diameter of up to 350 mm. These machines have a stroke of 500 mm in the X-axis and 1290 mm in the Z-axis, allowing workpieces up to 1100 mm in height and 350 mm in diameter to be processed.

The VARIOCELL SYSTEM at SCHERER provides integrated roll-milling modules and customized shaft turning machines with automation systems. The CNC 8400 sl controller from Siemens allows for a degree of automation tailored to the production plan. SCHERER machines and cells are primarily used for mass production of precision shaft components in batch sizes of several hundred thousand units per year. Based on a modular system with several thousand configuration options, the company creates a precision shaft turning system that matches specific work profiles. SCHERER offers single machines and production lines with over a dozen interlinked machines.
