Schiess Froriep cutting large gears and pinions

SCHIESS and FRORIEP are manufacturers of machines for the production of modern high load gears, including large gears and pinions. SCHIESS gear hobbing machines are designed to cut super precision spur gears and other large gears with vertical workpiece axis, type RFS with special accuracy. These machines are mainly used for the production of gears for modern high speed turbines, where the transmission of high loads and quiet operation is essential. Standard types RF and compact design RFE gear hobbing machines are ideal for use in medium and heavy industries. Heavy pinions for turbine drives can be produced efficiently on SCHIESS pinion hobbing machines with horizontal workpiece axis, type RFW and RFWS. SCHIESS has also developed gear shaping machines, type RS, for the production of straight and helical internal gears used in the manufacture of large planetary gearboxes. SCHIESS machines' rigidity and kinematic accuracy enable the production of high precision gears of all kinds, from the normal super gears to helical and double helical gears and even worm gears. The multiple table drives provide optimal conditions for rough and finish hobbing or shaving. Over the last few decades, SCHIESS and FRORIEP have collaborated with research organizations and gear manufacturers to produce over 200 gear cutting machines. This has resulted in the development of machines capable of producing larger gears, with gears up to 12 meters in diameter produced by conventional hobbing and single index hobbing with a module of up to 40. The milling spindle's double worm gear drives are characterized by low tooth loading and kinematically favorable force flow.
