Schiess RFC Large CNC Gear Hobbing Machines

The application of NC technology has become increasingly necessary for economic manufacturing, particularly in the hobbing process. SCHIESS, in partnership with LIEBHERR-Ver-zahntechnik GmbH, has set new standards by manufacturing the first large gear hobbing machine operating under full CNC control. Nowadays, bits and bytes control all operating sequences in a rapid and precise manner, making it easier to manufacture large gears.

The interlinking of knowledge and years of experience of these two specialists ensures a high degree of economy in the manufacture of large gears. Gears produced on CNC gear hobbing machines of the RFC series are suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, including marine drive gears, turbine drive gears, planetary gears, machine tool drives, reflecting telescope drives, rolling mill drive gears, press drive gears, large excavator drive gears, rotary kiln drives, and ore crusher drives.

Possible tooth systems include spur gears, helical gears, double helical or continuous double helical gears, gears with internal straight or helical teeth, worm gears, and gears with broad crowns and end relief.

Machines for producing pinions and internal tooth systems include horizontal pinion hobbing machines (type RFW) and vertical gear shaping machines (type RS35S). SCHIESS is responsible for the installation and start-up of all new machine tools at customers' plants, as well as for the preventive and routine maintenance of these machines.

SCHIESS-SERVICE ensures the fast and smooth supply of replacement and wearing parts, not only for the new machines but also for older machines built by SCHIESS, FRORIEP, JUNG-JUNGENTHAL, and HABERSANG UND ZINSEN. SCHIESS-SERVICE's activities also include the partial or general overhaul of medium-sized and heavy-duty machine tools, retrofitting the machines with the latest CNC control systems, and installing modern PLC-type machine control systems, among others.
