Studer S21 Grinding machine

STUDER is a compact CNC universal cylindrical grinding machine that specializes in grinding small workpieces. It can perform both external and internal grinding in a single clamping. The machine is versatile, flexible, and convenient for setting up, making it ideal for both customized and small and large-scale production. It is also expandable, and automation can be achieved by connecting it with handling devices through a defined loader interface. The machine's price-performance ratio is optimized by its practical Studer grinding software, which allows even less experienced users to maximize its potential through Studer Pictogramming. The software is also efficient for programming special applications such as form and thread grinding.

The machine's solid Granitan mineral-casting S103 machine base provides a foundation for maximum precision, performance, and reliability over the years. The base's excellent dampening properties ensure high-quality surface grinding of the workpieces, while the machine's full enclosure makes the machine room easily accessible. The machine also boasts a patented knurled structure of the guideways that largely eliminates the slip-stick effect or floating of the slides observed on conventional guideways.

The guideways offer the highest possible accuracy throughout the entire speed range with high load capacity and damping levels. Thanks to the robust and maintenance-free design, these excellent guideway characteristics are mostly retained. Temporary temperature fluctuations are extensively compensated for by the favorable thermal behavior of Granitan, resulting in high dimensional accuracy at all times.

The machine's longitudinal and cross slides are manufactured from high-quality gray cast iron and are provided with a non-abrasive Granitan S200 slideway coating. The slides rest completely on the guideways of the machine bed throughout the speed range, providing the cornerstone for excellent grinding straightness of 0.08 mm over 400 mm measured length. The slides are advanced by 40 mm diameter circulating balls, and the axes can be equipped with rotative or linear measuring systems, depending on requirements.
