Tacchi HD 2 Two bedway cnc lathe

All the lathes manufactured by Tacchi Giacomo Figli are available in self-teach-in configuration. This allows the operator to keep working in a traditional way to perform common operations of rolling and facing using the Numerical Control unit as a simple intelligent digital readout. The two-bedway lathes in self-teach-in configuration are the most preferred machines by customers because of their structural configuration and the features of the CNC unit. They can be used precisely and rapidly, making them economically advantageous in machining both single parts and small series of parts, even with complex profiles for later use. The sliding bed lathe is another widely used machine that is better suited for different applications and therefore to the use of self-teach-in Numerical Control units. Due to the possibility of using larger swings and adjusting the length of the gap in relation to the workpiece, the self-teach-in sliding bed lathe proves to be a universal machine able to machine workpieces that otherwise would require the use of larger and expensive machines, such as vertical lathes.

Four series of lathes are available: 1000-1200-1450-HD/2, that totally cover a field of application from 900 mm up to 2000 mm as for the swing over bed, and from 80,000 N up to 240,000 N for the maximum weight between the centers without steady rests and no limitation of distance between the centers. A wide range of accessories allows customization of these machines in relation to the specific uses of each customer.

The Mod. HS sliding bed lathes are also available in full CNC configuration. Due to the bed configuration, the saddle can freely slide in front of the tailstock and the steady rests, allowing the machining of the part without continually removing and repositioning the steady rests. The lathes Mod. HD/3 are therefore suitable for the machining of long parts in proportion with their diameter, with a considerable reduction of machine set-up times.

In all branches of the mechanical industry, the current trend is to concentrate more operations on one machine. This philosophy is still more evident in the heavy mechanical industry, where the dimensions of the workpieces would otherwise require an expensive second operation machine occupying considerable floor space, continuous use of transportation means, long and laborious operations of re-positioning of the parts, and, as a direct consequence of this, considerable unproductive times. All the lathes Mod. HD/3 are available in configuration with two saddles and if necessary symmetrical for machining of very long workpieces, such as press tie rods, naval propeller shafts, and oil industry components. This considerably minimizes the machining times and allows more efficient production.
