Technica ZSM  Precise Center Holes

During cylindrical grinding operations, it is often assumed that the machine, its bearings, an imperfect balance of the wheel, and defective centers are the prime causes of poor results in respect to surface finish and geometric form accuracy. However, it has been proved that the condition of center holes is the decisive factor.

Perfectly geometric center holes are therefore of premier importance for cylindrical grinding. The following errors in center holes directly influence the quality obtained during cylindrical grinding:

Out of roundness

Poor alignment

Angle too large

Angle too small

Poor surface finish

In practice, these errors combine with one another. The TECHNICA principle, with three simultaneous motions of the grinding wheel, offers precise center holes without rotation of the workpiece.
