Tos horizontal boring machine

Tos horizontal boring machine

TWL KW Following the constant development of the engineering industry and production controlled techniques, and based on the experience gained in field conditions and user feedback, the original design of the WHN 13 machine has been improved. The machine has added further horizontal elements, enabling wider utilization, easier maintenance, prolonged life of critical parts, and enhanced reliability of operation. The result is a new type of the machine, designated as WHN 13B.

The WHN 13B machine is a horizontal boring machine with several advantages such as rigid and robust construction, cross-beds guaranteeing precision of machining operations, high machining precision even at high cutting loads, precision of straight-line feed movements of longitudinal and cross slides, and spindle head achieved by spring-loaded hold-down rollers. The machine also has automatic hydraulic tool clamping, automatic locking of all moving parts, hardened steel strips lining the column and both beds, plastic grouted guides, steel telescopic covers protecting the guides of both beds, and a simple centralized attendance control of all groups and operations of the machine.

The WHN 13B machine also has an operator's platform vertically adjustable independently of the position of the spindle head, and the possibility of simultaneous positioning in any two coordinate axes with the use of TESLA NS 471 system. The machine also has the possibility of milling round-section areas on faces and periphery, milling round-section surfaces by quadrant-by-quadrant method, and plain milling at any angle of inclination in one plane. Additionally, the machine has shorter floor-to-floor times owing to simplification of feed mechanisms, use of five servo drives and ball screws for coordinate axes X, Y, W, and more.

The WHN 13B machine is intended for precision coordinate drilling, boring, and milling of larger box and plate-shaped components of cast iron and cast steel and of welded components, weighing up to 12 tons. The machining can be carried out from four sides in one clamping of the workpiece, and the working possibilities of the machine can be further enhanced by the use of optional equipment. The WHN 13B machine is designed as a horizontal cross-bed boring machine, with a rotary work table and an out-traveling spindle. The machine is of left-hand design, and the spindle head is on the left-hand side when viewed from the operator's post. The base of the machine is formed by two beds, which are firmly joined together and arranged in the shape of the letter T. The column slide with the column and spindle head mounted on the latter moves on the longitudinal bed, and the table slide with the rotary table moves on the cross bed.

column slide mechanisms of a machine and the hydraulic power unit that serves as a source of pressure oil for locking adjustable machine parts, clamping tools, and lubricating the guideways. The operator's platform, electrical equipment, and spindle drive box are also explained. The machine has setting wedges that minimize clearances in the guideways. Reliable locking is crucial during machining large and heavy workpieces with high cutting forces. Hydraulic locking units are provided for the spindle head, rotary table, table slide, and column slide, and their control is automatic. The column slide is a grey iron casting of box shape with internal ribbing that facilitates the movement of the column and spindle head along the longitudinal bed. The hydraulic power unit is located behind the rear-end of the longitudinal bed and is provided with horizontally arranged elements. The operator's platform is an independent unit with its driving unit and controlling elements, located in the foundation pit, facing the spindle head. The electrical equipment is housed in independent cabinets arranged around the machine, and the spindle drive box contains the thyristor-controlled variable-speed drive to the main spindle.

The machines are available in the following standard color paint versions: U1 - pea-green supplemented with pastel grey U2 - medium grey supplemented with pastel grey U3 - pea-green supplemented with medium grey U4 - turquois grey supplemented with pastel grey The U4 version is the standard execution of the machine. Optional accessories: SP 13 - Elongation clamping support for spindle. The support serves for securing the spindle on the hollow spindle, preventing vibration of the work spindle with the tool and increasing the mass of the rotating parts. VP13 - Elongation guiding support for spindle. The support dampens spindle and tool vibrations at a larger overhang and takes up radial forces, which would otherwise reduce the geometric precision of machined holes. RP 13 - Reducing flange. It serves for clamping of large milling heads directly to the face of the hollow spindle, with a maximum rigidity permitting full exploitation of the tool. The indicated dimensions and carrying blocks serve for orientation when selecting the tool. LD 13 - Removable face plate. It serves for surfacing, external maximum turning diameter, radial adjustment of tool slide, turning of large-diameter flanges, and boring of large holes. The faceplate is mounted and dismounted by means of a crane which must have a facility for suitable micro-setting. A telescopic holder can be used to increase
