Vigel M Tapping machine 1
MACHINE GENERAL DISCRIPTION
Tapping machines are fully automatic and can be considered as being the best tapping machines for mass-production of small parts. The tap is fed in by a lead-screw coaxial and integral with the spindle in order to avoid any thrust on the piece, cancelling therefore any deformation of the pitch even when threading light materials and very thin pieces. Our model is equipped with rotary table for automatic translation of pieces. Our model without rotary table, gives the possibility of tapping greater sized parts, in which the rotary table is not allowed to be used. The machine consists of a welded-plate frame in which the electrical equipment is placed complying with safety requirements, the cooling plant and the possible pneumatic installation; of a chilled-iron base for the chip and coolant recovery, in which is lodged the rotary table in the model • M 65/T, the head supporting column and the head group with the respective controls. In the machine head are placed the spindle group, the pulleys and lead-screw group, the motor and the controls for the tapping stroke adjustment. The rotary table mounted on our M 65/T tapping machine is mechanically controlled by geneva motion system, having 8 divisions at 45°. It is driven by a self-braking electric motor which transmits the motion by means of a mechanical clutch, which works in the event that the table meets with a superior resistance to the one usually required pieces jam etc.
LUBRICATION
All the rotating parts are mounted on ball bearings in oil-bath. The spindle is lubricated by means of special oil shedder placed on the inferior part. The lead-screw group is lubricated by means of a piston pump connected with the spindle.
COOLING
It is assured by means of an immersed centrifugal electro-pump with continuous circulation.
LOCATION
TRANSPORT - During the transport the machine must be sheltered from jerks, which might prejudice the accuracy.
The ropes application must not be effected on the jutting parts; rather as specified on page 6.
CLEANING - Before the location, all the enamelled parts must be ridded of the anti-rust paint and protective greases.
We recommend to use petroleum.
LOCATION - It is absolutely necessary that the machine be laid on a plane surface. Level the machine by a air bubble, laying it IongitudinaiIy and transversally on the machine platform.
SPINDLE - Every week insert grease for bearings in the specіal oіl shedder placed on the inferior part of the spindle by the special pump supplied as outfit. Every day check the head oil level through the indicator lamp. Every time that the machine is started up and at every lead-screw change, check the lubricating oil delivery through the indicator lamp.
Every 6 months we recommend the complete change of oil in the head. In order to effect the oil drain unscrew the plug.
COOLING - Use cutting oil according to the material type to be tapped. Quantity required about 10 Kgs.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNADVISED THE CHEMICAL WATER USE MACHINE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Before connecting the current by means of the socket No. 57, placed on the back of the machine at the bottom, please make sure that the voltage is exactly the one indicated on the name-plate and all the selector switches are on the zero position. The machine motors have a fixed rotation motion, therefore it is necessary to pay the utmost attention to the plugging of the main line phases. In order to avoid any trouble caused by a wrong connection, the machine is equipped with the drive belt not mounted on the motor, so as to be able to check the rotation motion of said motor.
In order to start the checking of the motor rotation motion, it is necessary: make sure that the inferior pushbutton is not squeezed by the dowel; connect the machine on the manual cycle and operate on the spindle control by means of pushbutton. The motor must slew according to the indication of the arrow. When the checking is effected, mount the belt on the required speed.

SPEED-CHANGE
This machine has 3 spindle rotation speeds at its disposal.
In order to effect the speed-change it is necessary to proceed in the following way. Remove the head cover loosen the motor lock bolts. Loosen the belt by motor shifting, operating on the knob. Shift the belt on the required speed. Pull the belt by the knob. Lock again the motor. Re-assemble the head cover No. 1
BELT REPLACEMENT
In order to replace the belt it is necessary to proceed in the following way. Remove the lead-screw group. Disassemble the cover in order to approach the safety microswitch. Remove the electrical connection with the microswitch. Dissassemble the cover. Please take care in the disassembly and reassembly of this cover in order that the seal. Is not damaged. In the disassembly of this group, an oil drain lying on seal top which will smear the spindle pulley, is manifested. Replace the belt, making sure that the pulley is free from oil. Start the reassembly of the parts in rising order.
LEAD-SCREW CHANGE
In order to replace the lead-screw, male 8 female, it is necessary to proceed in the following way. Remove knurled cap for spring adjustment. Remove the spring. Remove the container, having care that the seal is not spoilt. Unscrew the ferrules. Slip off the complete lead-screw group. lnsert another group having care that the female lead-screw is to be mounted by the key shear, in the special key. also the male lead-screw is to be mounted by the key shear on the spindle key. Please make sure that the female lead-screw touches its seating. Re-tighten the ferrules and mount the parts in rising order.
LEAD-SCREW ADJUSTMENT
The lead-screw has a safety device at its disposal, which checks the axial thrust on the tap. The device prevents the breakage tap, íf the piece does not show the hole to be tapped. Its adjustment consists in calibrating, by means of the knurled cap. The spring, which compress the lead-screw. Calibration degree of this spring is subordinated to the tap size. When you tap with screw tap of small diameter, the spring load must be of light entity and vice versa when you tap with screw tap of larger diameter. Obviously this adjustment must give an entity of load to the spring for starting penetration of the screw tap.
SPINDLE STROKE ADJUSTMENT
The adjustment of the spindle stroke may be effected both descent and ascent stroke in order to take advantage
of the minimum overflow of the tap from the fixture. You can also operate with the machine in motion without altering the tapping on the piece. In order to obtain these stroke changes, operate on the knobs, checking, for great shiftings, the electric stroke and control dowel and for small shiftings, please refer to the graduation of which are equipped with the knobs themselves.
HEAD AND COLUMN TRAVEL ADJUSTMENT
In order to make easier the setting up of the fixtures, the machine has a column adjustment by a longitudinal travel of, at its disposal; in order to effect this adjustment you must proceed in the following way.
Loosen the 4 locking nuts.
By the handwheel effect the required travel, then lock again the 4 nuts. Concerning the vertical travel of the head, you must proceed in the following way.
Unlock the head driving the lever.
By the handwheel effect the required travel and lock again the head by the lever.
STARTING ON THE VARIOUS CYCLES
The machine has 3 working cycles at its disposal. Manual Cycle for machine setting up. Semi-automatic cycle single cycle. Automatic cycle.
Connect the machine current.
Slew the service switch placed on the right door on the position. Squeeze the B pushbutton, please make sure that the A indicator lamp points out the current presence on the panel.
MANUAL CYCLE
The manual cycle allows the independent control of the table rotation and spindle descent. If you wish to control these organs it is necessary to proceed in this way:
Carry the selector switch on the L symbol. By the C pushbutton you control the table rotation. By the D pushbutton you control the spindle descent
with intermittency.
SEMI-AUTOMATIC CYCLE WITH ROTARY TABLE
The machine performs a complete cycle and then it stops.
Carry the G selector switch on the 1 symbol. Squeezing the C pushbutton, the table performs the rotation of 45° and the descent and ascent of the spindle. This cycle finished, the machine stops. In order to repeat this cycle, squeeze again the C pushbutton.
SEMI-AUTOMATIC CYCLE WITHOUT ROTARY TABLE
Carry the G selector switch on the H symbol and squeeze the foot pushbutton placed on the left of the machine footrest. The spindle performs an ascent and descent stroke. When this cycle is finished, the machine stops.
AUTOMATIC CYCLE

PNEUMATIC INSTALLATION DESCRIPTION
